A Baby Poll

Let's take a poll. Leave a comment on this post with your name and a guess for Brenna's birthday, birth weight, and birth length. Unless some of my facebook friends come over to participate, we'll probably have 4 guesses - mine, Jonathan's, Kelley's, and Merritt's. Oh, and maybe my new blog friend - the other Erin. Yeah, I need more readers. Here's what I know...

1. My due date is February 25. It really should be February 26 because I was tracking my cycles very closely!
2. Brenna is head down, but I still feel quite a bit of movement up high.
3. I've been measuring about 1-2 weeks behind for a few appointments now, but still growing.
4. The doctor estimated she weighed 5 pounds last Monday (33 weeks, 4 days)
5. I feel way more pressure lower down than I did a few weeks ago.
6. I weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was a few weeks early.
7. Jonathan weighed 8 pounds, 13 ounces (I think?) and was a little bit late (again, I think).
8. We had two friends from church have babies lately - April was due 1 day after Halloween and had him 13 days before Halloween. Victoria was due 3 days after New Years and had him 4 days before New Years. I'm due 11 days after Valentine's Day....hmmm.
9. A full moon is here on February 28!
10. Our dating anniversary is February 12. Valentine's Day is February 14. My birthday is February 15. Thus, my guess of February 13 - filling in the missing day!

Happy Guessing!

  1. I am going to venture a guess that Brenna will come more like March 3rd (8 days after the due date is the average for a 1st time mom according to a Harvard study). I think she'll weigh almost 8 lbs and be 20 inches long.

Estimates (yes, even w/ ultrasound, especially 3rd tri) can be off by a lot, so I'm going by what you might have weighed if full term and Jonathan. Caitlin was right in btwn. Shane's and my birth weight and I was two weeks past my due date when I was born.

All but 4 of my natural childbirth students have had their babies after their estimated due dates, close to the study's findings of 8 days over. There were no inductions in this group, the baby came when it was truly ready. Most were a week longer than their EDD, one was 10 days past, one 5 days past, one 3 days early, one 11 days early and two of the homebirths with Hannah Mann, CNM went 2-3 weeks early. All the babies were a nice healthy weight for when they came, none were huge or tiny...the apple falls off the tree when it's ripe. :)

  3. Feb. 28th (late that night) or early morning March 1st (teachers know what a full moon does to kids!) :)
    I'm guessing she'll be 7lbs 11ozs and 21 inches long

however I really think you should have her on the 23rd b/c that's my brother's b.day and it would be easier for me to remember her b.day! :)

  5. Feb 29! Because how cool would that be. :)

  6. Yes Erin, that would be SO cool, but it's not a leap year. Bummer, I know. I don't think I can keep cooking her for 2 more years - that's when the next one is, I checked! I'll put that in as your guess, but unfortunately I don't think you'll win! ;)

  7. wow, I feel so smart. and I also forgot to do a weight and legnth. So let me start from scratch.

I'm going with Feb 24 (since everyone I know has been having late babies recently and it's time for an early one) and 7 lbs, 12 oz (rght between you and Jonathan).

  8. Haha, ask if you have nothing better to worry about than when leap year is, no worries! The 24th sounds better anyway, the sooner the better - I'm more than willing to change the late trend.

  10. Dude. I'm so late on this. Sorry.

I was due Nov 25 and Finn came on the 28th. You are due the 25th so I'm guessing the 28th for you too, because I think it'd be cool. I'm using all Finn's stats:

    Feb 28
    9:50pm
    8lbs, 2 oz
    21.5 inches

  11. Merritt, I almost put that as one of my things on my list, but thought I'd leave your hypothesis of same due date, same birth date to you! Feb 28 sounds okay to me, but I'm not sure how 8 pounds OR over 21 inches sounds. If she's as cute as Finn, I'll be okay with it all though!

  12. I'm going with 2/26,just because it's my birthday! 6 lbs. 12 oz. since that's what Erin AND I weighed, even though we were both early. Okay, change it to 7 lbs. 12 oz. sorry LooLoo. 20" at least. Love you guys!
